Chimney Sweeping

99% of the time I sweep chimneys the traditional English way which has worked for the last 150 years using rods and brushes. The modern part of chimney sweeping is sheeting up and cleaning away soot and debris at the bottom of the flue. I use a modern hi-tech vacuum cleaner with two motors and three sets of filters to eliminate all soot from entering the room. The fireplace is sealed by a tried and tested method used by most modern chimney sweeps.

Glazed Creosote Removal

Occasionally I come across heavily glazed/ tarred flues - normally in multi-fuel room heaters which have been burning lots of wood and haven't been swept or serviced regularly. The traditional chimney sweeping method will not remove this glaze/ tar. I therefore have various systems from Germany, the  Ro-Kleen™ power sweeping system from the USA and the TAMAR power sweeping system from the UK. These remove the glaze/ tar most of the time.

Certification

With sweeping and power sweeping a certificate is always issued for your home pack and insurance purposes.

CCTV Surveys

I have camera equipment which can inspect the full height of your flue to check its condition and also to see if your flue is suitable for a solid fuel fire. A record on DVD format can be produced should you require one for insurance reasons for example.

Pressure Testing

Through my contacts in the solid fuel industry I can recommend a company that carries out pressure testing of flues. The equipment used is a computerised system that is recalibrated at regular intervals and the result is a 'yes' or 'no' if your flue is suitable for solid fuel, gas or oil burners.

Caps and Cowls

I supply Caps ad Cowls.
